Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 37 kDa 동일 소단위체 4개로 이루어진 사량체 형태로 존재합니다. NADPH 존재하에서 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 가역적으로 환원시킵니다.
GAPDH는 대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되며, 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제 및 수리, 핵 RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다. 또한, 노화 및 신경퇴행성 질환, 암세포의 세포사멸 등과 관련된 유전자 발현 조절에도 중요한 역할을 합니다.
GAPDH는 Alzheimer’s disease와 Huntington’s disease 관련 단백질과 상호작용하는 것으로 보고되었으며, actin 및 tubulin과의 결합도 보고되었습니다. 높은 발현 수준으로 인해 Western blot에서 단백질 로딩 컨트롤로 널리 사용됩니다.
