Rat anti-Mouse ABCA1 antibody, clone 5A1-1422, recognizes murine adenosine triphosphate (ATP) binding cassette transporter 1 (ABCA1).

Target Information

Mutations in the ABCA1 gene (ATP-binding cassette transporter 1) are associated with Tangier disease (TD), an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the absence of plasma HDL and abnormal cholesterol ester deposition in the reticulo-endothelial system.
ABCA1 mediates the apo-A1-associated export of cholesterol and phospholipids from the cell. It is expressed on the plasma membrane and Golgi complex and regulated by cholesterol flux. Cholesterol flux regulation between HDL and macrophages involves competitive interaction between ABCA1 and SR-BI.
