Target Information
This gene belongs to the RNA polymerase II subunit 11 gene family, located on chromosome 7q22.1, with a pseudogene on 7p13. It encodes a subunit of RNA polymerase II, responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts may produce isoforms with distinct C-termini. Many variants include additional non-coding exons, making them candidates for nonsense-mediated decay (NMD). It remains unclear whether this locus expresses a functional protein in vivo.
