Target Information
CHP2 (Calcineurin B homologous protein 2), also known as Hepatocellular carcinoma-associated antigen 520, is a 196 amino acid protein containing four EF-hand domains. It plays a potential role in transmembrane Na⁺/H⁺ exchange by binding to and activating NHE-1, thereby increasing intracellular pH and protecting cells from serum deprivation-induced death. CHP2 is highly expressed in malignantly transformed cells and considered a tumor-associated antigen. Overexpression promotes proliferation of HEK293 cells, while knockdown inhibits proliferation in HepG2 cells. CHP2 also binds and stimulates calcineurin A phosphatase activity, activating the calcineurin/NFAT signaling pathway.
