Target Information

The OPRM1 gene encodes the mu-opioid receptor, the primary binding site for opioids such as morphine, heroin, fentanyl, and methadone.
It also serves as the receptor for endogenous opioid peptides like β-endorphin and enkephalins.
OPRM1 is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) located on the cell membrane.
There are three main types of opioid receptors: mu, kappa, and delta, each with distinct pharmacologic profiles.
