Target Information
KCNQ4 단백질은 뉴런의 흥분성 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 칼륨 채널을 형성하며, 특히 달팽이관의 감각세포에서 기능합니다. 이 채널은 M1 무스카린성 아세틸콜린 수용체에 의해 억제되고, 항경련제인 retigabine에 의해 활성화됩니다. KCNQ3 단백질과 함께 이종다중체 채널을 형성할 수 있습니다.
이 유전자의 결함은 비증후성 감각신경성 난청 2형(진행성 청력 손실의 상염색체 우성형)을 유발합니다. 두 가지 전사 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
