ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter 유전자는 체내 식이 콜레스테롤의 유지량 조절에 관여합니다.
ABCG1 (ABC8)은 콜레스테롤이 축적된 대식세포의 세포 표면 및 세포내 구획에 발현되며, 아세틸화된 LDL에 의해 유도된 콜레스테롤 유입 시 단핵구 유래 대식세포에서 발현이 증가합니다. 반면, HDL(3)에 의해 매개되는 콜레스테롤 유출은 ABCG1 발현을 억제합니다.
