Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene shows strong similarity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc45, an essential protein required for the initiation of DNA replication.
Cdc45 is a member of a highly conserved multiprotein complex including Cdc6/Cdc18, the minichromosome maintenance proteins (MCMs), and DNA polymerase, which are important for early steps of DNA replication in eukaryotes.
This protein interacts with MCM7 and DNA polymerase alpha, and studies in Xenopus suggest a pivotal role in loading DNA polymerase alpha onto chromatin.
Multiple polyadenylation sites for this gene have been reported.
