Target Information
Aquaporin-8 (AQP8) is a water channel protein encoded by the AQP8 gene in humans.
Aquaporins are small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0) family.
AQP8 mRNA is expressed in pancreas and colon but not in other tissues.
This protein forms a mercury-sensitive, water-specific channel that is not permeable to glycerol or urea.
Expression is limited to pancreas and colon.
