Target Information
Type-VI intermediate filament (IF) protein playing a key cytoskeletal role within muscle cells. It forms heteropolymeric IFs with desmin and/or vimentin and interacts with alpha-dystrobrevin, dystrophin, talin-1, utrophin, and vinculin to link IFs to adherens-type junctions such as costameres, neuromuscular junctions, and myotendinous junctions within striated muscle cells.
