Target Information

Modulation of chromatin structure is crucial for transcription regulation in eukaryotes. The nucleosome, composed of four core histone proteins (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4), forms the basic unit of chromatin. The N-terminal tails of these histones undergo various posttranslational modifications such as acetylation, phosphorylation, and methylation, influencing gene expression in response to cellular signals.
Histone H3 is primarily acetylated at lysines 9, 14, 18, and 23, and phosphorylation at Ser10 is closely associated with chromosome condensation during mitosis and meiosis.
