Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and play diverse roles in transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins possess a Krueppel-type DNA-binding domain and a KRAB domain that interacts with KAP1, recruiting histone-modifying proteins.
ZNF268 (Zinc finger protein 268), also known as zinc finger protein 3 or HZF3, is a 947-amino-acid protein of the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger family. It contains 24 C2H2-type zinc fingers and one KRAB domain. Localized to the nucleus, ZNF268 participates in transcriptional regulation and is highly expressed in early embryonic development. Alternative splicing variants have been identified in leukemia patients, suggesting a role in oncogenesis.
