세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)

Cytoplasm, Stress granule, Nucleus, Cell projection (lamellipodium).
Localized in cytoplasmic mRNP granules containing untranslated mRNAs.
Shuttles between the cytoplasm and nucleus.
During stress or absence of DDX3X, localizes to nucleus.
At leading edge of migrating fibroblasts, colocalizes with DDX3X.
Relocalizes to cytoplasmic stress granules upon cellular stress, colocalizing with ENDOV.
In HRSV infection, localizes in cytoplasmic inclusion bodies (IBAGs).

Background

This gene encodes a poly(A) binding protein that shuttles between nucleus and cytoplasm, binding to the 3′ poly(A) tail of eukaryotic mRNAs via RNA-recognition motifs. It promotes ribosome recruitment and translation initiation, and is required for poly(A) shortening — the first step in mRNA decay. The gene belongs to a small family with three protein-coding genes and several pseudogenes. (RefSeq, Aug 2010)
