Background
Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily N member 2 (OR4N2) is a human olfactory receptor that interacts with odorant molecules in the nose to initiate neuronal responses responsible for smell perception. These receptors are part of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, characterized by a seven-transmembrane domain structure. They mediate recognition and signal transduction of odorant molecules. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and its nomenclature is organism-specific.
