Biosimilars targeting aflibercept biosimilars such as Yesafili, Opuviz, and Pavblu, function by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathways, crucial for angiogenesis and vascular permeability. These biosimilars emulate the activity of aflibercept, a recombinant fusion protein that combines portions of VEGF receptor 1 (VEGFR1) and VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2) with an immunoglobulin G (IgG) Fc fragment, effectively acting as a decoy receptor for VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF).
