Target Information
Lysophosphatidic acid phosphatase type 6 (ACP6), also known as acid phosphatase-like protein 1 (ACPL1) or lysophosphatidic acid phosphatase (LPAP), is a 428 amino acid secreted protein that hydrolyzes lysophosphatidic acid to monoacylglycerol.
ACP6 is highly expressed in kidney, heart, small intestine, muscle, liver, prostate, testis, and ovary. It exists as two isoforms resulting from alternative splicing.
The ACP6 gene is located on human chromosome 1, which spans about 260 million base pairs and constitutes approximately 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 is associated with several diseases such as Hutchinson-Gilford progeria (LMNA gene), Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, familial adenomatous polyposis, and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are found in various cancers including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma.
