SLC17A1 (Solute Carrier Family 17 Member 1) is a protein-coding gene associated with diseases such as gout and hyperuricemia. It participates in pathways related to the transport of glucose, bile salts, organic acids, metal ions, and amine compounds, as well as in the pharmacodynamics of uricosurics. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations include symporter activity and phosphate ion transmembrane transporter activity. An important paralog of this gene is SLC17A2, and it is involved in the cotransport of sodium and phosphate.
