Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, an additional desalting step is recommended (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
The FOLH1 gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein of the M28 peptidase family. This enzyme functions as a glutamate carboxypeptidase, acting on substrates such as folate and N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate. It is expressed in the prostate, central and peripheral nervous system, and kidney.
Mutations may lead to impaired folate absorption and hyperhomocysteinemia. In the brain, it may contribute to conditions related to glutamate excitotoxicity. In the prostate, FOLH1 is upregulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for prostate cancer.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
