Target Information
CCR7 is a member of the G protein coupled receptor family, which is a subfamily of chemokines. It is induced by Epstein Barr virus (EBV) and mediates EBV effects on B lymphocytes. CCR7 is expressed in blood, bone marrow, lymph node, and intestine, particularly in lymphoid tissues and activated B and T lymphocytes. It controls migration of memory T cells to inflamed tissues and stimulates dendritic cell maturation. The chemokine ligand CCL19/ECL is a specific ligand for this receptor. CCR7 and other C-C chemokine receptors (CCR1, CCR2A, CCR3, CCR4, CCR5, Duffy antigen) play roles in T cell chemotaxis and migration of phagocytic cells to sites of inflammation.
