Target Information
Anti-viral innate immune responses are triggered by pathogen-associated molecular patterns such as intracellular nucleic acid accumulation during viral infection. Toll-like receptors (TLR) 3, 7, 8, and 9 act as transmembrane pattern recognition receptors in immune cells. RIG-1 and MDA5, members of the CARD-helicase family, play similar roles in the cytoplasm. LGP2, another member of this family, lacks a homologous CARD domain and is believed to function in negative-feedback regulation of intracellular antiviral signaling. At least four isoforms of LGP2 are known to exist.
