Target Information
Eukaryotic RNA polymerase II mediates the synthesis of mature and functional messenger RNA through a multistep transcription cycle: preinitiation, promoter clearance, elongation, and termination. Elongation is a critical stage for gene expression regulation.
ELOF1 (Transcription elongation factor 1 homolog) is an 83 amino acid nuclear protein involved in maintaining chromatin structure during active transcription. The ELOF1 gene maps to human chromosome 19, which spans over 63 million bases and contains approximately 1,400 genes. This chromosome is known for its high gene density and includes numerous immunoglobulin superfamily members such as killer cell and leukocyte Ig-like receptors, ICAMs, CEACAM, PSG family, and Fc receptors (FcRs).
