Product Specific Information

MA5-17618 targets SEPT5/CDCre-1 in ELISA, FACS, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The immunogen used for MA5-17618 is human CDCrel-1/SEPT5.

Target Information

This gene belongs to the septin family of nucleotide-binding proteins, initially identified in yeast as regulators of the cell division cycle. Septins are evolutionarily conserved across species including yeast, Drosophila, and mouse, and play critical roles in cytoskeletal organization. Disruption of septin function interferes with cytokinesis, resulting in multinucleate or polyploid cells.
The SEPT5 gene is located on chromosome 22q11, a region often deleted in DiGeorge and velocardiofacial syndromes. A translocation involving the MLL gene and SEPT5 has been reported in acute myeloid leukemia cases. Two transcripts (2.2 kb and 3.5 kb) have been identified, differing by polyadenylation site usage. An alternatively spliced transcript variant with a distinct 5' end has also been observed, though its full-length sequence is not fully characterized.
