Target Information
TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that acts as a major controller of thyroid cell metabolism. The encoded protein functions as a receptor for thyrothropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Defects in this gene are associated with various types of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
