Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) are neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 shows relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated levels of autoantibodies to CRMP5 have been associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes.
Auto-immunity against CRMP5 (particularly N-terminal epitopes) is also being investigated as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
