Target Information
MERTK is a receptor tyrosine kinase that transduces extracellular signals into the cytoplasm by binding to ligands such as LGALS3, TUB, TULP1, and GAS6. It regulates processes including cell survival, migration, differentiation, and phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Ligand binding induces autophosphorylation, creating docking sites for downstream signaling molecules. MERTK activation leads to phosphorylation of MAPK1, MAPK2, FAK/PTK2, and RAC1, contributing to macrophage clearance, platelet aggregation, cytoskeleton reorganization, and retinal pigment epithelium function. It also inhibits Toll-like receptor-mediated innate immune responses via STAT1 activation and induction of SOCS1 and SOCS3.
