Background
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serine/threonine protein kinase family. This kinase preferentially activates other kinases involved in the MAP kinase signaling pathway. It directly phosphorylates and activates IκB kinases, playing a role in the NF-κB signaling pathway. It also binds and activates protein kinase C-related kinase 2, suggesting involvement in regulated signaling processes.
