Cytokeratin 8은 염색체 12번 장완에 위치한 type II keratin 계열 단백질로, type I keratin과 이합체를 형성하여 상피세포의 중간 필라멘트를 구성합니다. Keratin 8은 주로 keratin 18과 함께 단층 상피세포에서 발현되며, 세포 구조 유지, 신호전달, 세포 분화에 관여합니다. 이 유전자의 변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 관련이 있습니다.
