Target Information
RPL5 encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L18P family. It is located in the cytoplasm and binds 5S rRNA to form the 5S ribonucleoprotein particle (RNP), essential for transport of cytoplasmic 5S rRNA to the nucleolus for ribosome assembly. The protein interacts specifically with the beta subunit of casein kinase II.
