Target Information
The PITX3 gene encodes a member of the RIEG/PITX homeobox family, belonging to the bicoid class of homeodomain proteins that function as transcription factors. PITX3 is involved in lens formation during eye development. Mutations in this gene are associated with anterior segment mesenchymal dysgenesis and congenital cataracts.
