Target Information
The elongin (SIII) complex consists of a transcriptionally active A subunit and two smaller regulatory subunits, B and C. This complex enhances the transcription elongation rate of RNA polymerase II by reducing pausing at DNA arrest sites.
Elongin A3 (RNA polymerase II transcription factor SIII subunit A3, Transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 3C) is a 546-amino-acid nuclear protein functioning as a general transcription elongation factor that increases RNA polymerase II transcription elongation. It forms a stable complex with Elongin BC but, unlike Elongin A, its transcriptional activity is not stimulated by Elongin BC. Elongin A3 contains one TFIIS N-terminal domain and is ubiquitously expressed in human tissue.
