Target Information
Langerin (CD207) is a type II membrane-associated C-type lectin expressed exclusively by Langerhans cells. It recognizes mannose residues via its carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) and is localized both on the cell surface and intracellularly in association with Birbeck granules. Transfection of Langerin cDNA into fibroblasts induces membrane superimposition and Birbeck granule formation.
