HRASLS5는 phospholipase A1/2 및 acyltransferase 활성을 모두 나타내며, calcium-independent 방식으로 glycerophospholipids의 sn-1 또는 sn-2 위치에서 지방산을 방출합니다. 또한 phosphatidylcholine(PC) 등의 glycerophospholipids에서 phosphatidylethanolamine(PE)의 1차 아민으로 지방산기를 전달하여 N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine(NAPE)을 형성하며, 이는 N-acylethanolamines(NAEs)의 전구체로 작용합니다.
