Product Specific Information
Recombinant Human soluble Fas Ligand is a 17.9 kDa protein comprising the TNF-homologous region of FasL and contains an 8-residue N-terminal His-Tag.
This product is shipped at ambient temperature. For storage, handling, and reconstitution information, please refer to the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis.
Target Information
CD178 (Fas ligand, FasL) is a type-II membrane protein with its N-terminus in the cytoplasm and C-terminal region extending into the extracellular space. Its receptor, FasR, is a type-I membrane protein belonging to the TNF and NGF receptor family.
CD178 induces apoptosis upon interaction with FasR and can exist in both membrane-bound (45 kDa) and soluble (26 kDa) forms, the latter released via metalloproteinase cleavage.
Binding of CD178 to Fas triggers receptor oligomerization and apoptotic signaling. CD178 is predominantly expressed in activated T-lymphocytes and NK cells, as well as immune-privileged sites (testis, eye) and other tissues (thymus, liver, ovary, lung, heart, kidney).
Its role is central to antiviral immune responses and regulation of immune reactions. Altered CD178 expression has been associated with atherosclerosis, inflammatory disease, hypertension, AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
