This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Cardiac Troponin C protein.
Target Information
Troponin (Tn) is the central regulatory protein of striated muscle contraction. It consists of three components:
- Tn-I: Inhibitor of actomyosin ATPase
- Tn-T: Contains binding site for tropomyosin
- Tn-C: Binds calcium ions
Calcium binding to Tn-C abolishes the inhibitory action of Tn on actin filaments, enabling actin–myosin interaction, ATP hydrolysis, and tension generation in muscle fibers.
