Target Information
The protein encoded by the DOK7 gene is essential for neuromuscular synaptogenesis. It functions in aneural activation of muscle-specific receptor kinase (MuSK), required for postsynaptic differentiation and clustering of acetylcholine receptors in myotubes.
Mutations in this gene are associated with familial limb-girdle myasthenia autosomal recessive (congenital myasthenic syndrome type 1B).
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
