U2AF1 유전자는 splicing factor SR family에 속하며, U2 auxiliary factor의 작은 서브유닛을 인코딩합니다. 이 단백질은 pre-mRNA branch site에 U2 snRNP 결합을 위해 필수적인 역할을 하며, RNA splicing 과정에서 large subunit 및 enhancer 결합 단백질과의 상호작용을 직접 매개합니다. 다양한 isoform을 생성하는 alternative splicing 변이가 보고되었습니다.
