Target Information
Mipu1, also known as zinc finger protein 667 (ZNF667), encodes a nuclear-localized protein containing 14 carboxy-terminal zinc finger motifs and an amino-terminal KRAB domain.
This protein is highly expressed in heart and brain and is upregulated in rat heart after transient ischemia-reperfusion.
Overexpression studies suggest Mipu1 suppresses AP-1 and SRE transcriptional activities in the MAPK signaling pathway, potentially contributing to cardiac and vascular disease pathogenesis.
At least four isoforms of MIPU1 are known.
