Target Information
The protein encoded by the DUSP5 gene belongs to the dual specificity protein phosphatase subfamily. These phosphatases deactivate target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. They negatively regulate MAP kinase family members involved in cellular proliferation and differentiation. DUSP5 specifically inactivates ERK1, is expressed in various tissues (notably in pancreas and brain), and localizes to the nucleus.
