PRDM2는 nuclear/histone methyltransferase superfamily의 구성원으로, N-terminal PR domain, Rb-binding motif, 8개의 Kruppel-like zinc finger motif, Nuclear hormone-receptor binding motif, C-terminal PR-domain binding motif를 포함합니다.
낮은 수준으로 광범위하게 발현되며 두 가지 isoform(280 kDa RIZ1, 250 kDa RIZ2)을 가집니다.
종양 억제 단백질로서 세포 성장 및 분화에 중요한 역할을 하며, Retinoblastoma protein, estrogen receptor, GATA-3, Heme-oxygenase-1 gene의 TPA-responsive element(MTE)에 결합합니다.
