Target Information
Phosphatidic acid phosphatase type 2 (PAP2) was originally identified as a plasma membrane enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of the second messenger phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). Multiple isoforms of PAP2 were later cloned, and these enzymes were found to dephosphorylate various lipid phosphates, including lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). They are now known as lipid phosphate phosphatases (LPPs), comprising four members: LPP1, LPP1a, LPP2, and LPP3.
