Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM). CD56 is a glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and involved in neural cell adhesion. In hematopoietic cells, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and NKT cell subsets.

• Epitope distinction: TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating recognition of different epitopes.
• Fixation performance: Performs better after fixation/permeabilization than CMSSB.
• Cross-reactivity: Rhesus macaque.
• Reported applications: Flow cytometric analysis.
• Tested application: Pre-diluted and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL total volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
• Light sensitivity: Protect from light due to photo-induced oxidation.
• Fixation compatibility: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (#00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (#00-5333-57) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM, neural cell adhesion molecule) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family that mediates cell adhesion and is widely expressed in the nervous system (120–180 kDa isoforms). It is found on T cells and NK cells, contributing to cell migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity. Polysialic modification reduces CD56-mediated adhesion. CD56 binds extracellular matrix components such as laminin and integrins and is expressed in neuroectodermal-derived tissues and tumors (retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, neuroblastoma). It is a sensitive neuroendocrine marker for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors. CD56 dysfunction is associated with rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
