Target Information
DDR2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) with a distinct extracellular region containing a factor VIII-like domain. DDR1 and DDR2 are inhibited by Gleevec. DDR2 is essential for normal bone development and regulates osteoblast differentiation and chondrocyte maturation through MAP kinase signaling and activation of RUNX2. It also modulates extracellular matrix remodeling by upregulating collagenases MMP1, MMP2, and MMP13, facilitating cell migration and tumor invasion. DDR2 promotes fibroblast migration and proliferation, contributing to wound healing.
