Target Information
O-methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates the 5'-monophosphate of cytoplasmic histidyl tRNA (tRNA(His)), acting as a capping enzyme to protect tRNA(His) from cleavage by DICER1.
Also capable of methylating the 5'-monophosphate of a subset of pre-miRNAs, functioning as a negative regulator of miRNA processing.
Methylation at this position reduces pre-miRNA processing by DICER1.
Reported to mediate dimethylation of pre-miR-145, though other studies observed monomethylation instead.
