RP-75674 contains purified recombinant human Paraoxonase 1 protein with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag.
RP-75674 may be used as a positive control in many immunological assays.
Target Information
The paraoxonase (PON) gene family in humans has three members: PON1, PON2, and PON3, located on chromosome 7q21.3–22.1.
PON1 is synthesized primarily in the liver and a portion is secreted into plasma, where it associates with high-density lipoproteins (HDL).
It hydrolyzes active metabolites of several organophosphorus insecticides (e.g., chlorpyrifos oxon, diazoxon) and nerve agents such as sarin, soman, and VX.
PON1 polymorphism may be linked to neurodegeneration and considered an independent risk factor for Parkinson’s disease.
