Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter and is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family.
This intracellular protein localizes to the cytoplasm or nucleus and regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis.
TSC22 modulates Smad3 and Smad4 transcriptional activity and is ubiquitously expressed in both fetal and adult tissues, including aortic endothelial cells.
Expression is induced by cytokines such as TGFB, and the protein may serve as a potential therapeutic target for leukemia and prostate cancer.
