OXCT1 유전자는 3-oxoacid CoA-transferase 유전자 계열의 구성원으로, 수크시닐-CoA로부터 아세토아세테이트로 CoA를 가역적으로 전달하는 효소를 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 미토콘드리아 매트릭스에서 호모다이머 형태로 존재하며, 간 외 케톤체 대사에서 핵심적인 역할을 수행합니다. 해당 유전자의 돌연변이는 succinyl CoA:3-oxoacid CoA transferase 결핍증과 관련되어 있습니다.
