Product Specific Information
PA1-7218 detects the HIV1 gp120 protein and does not cross-react with human T or B cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA procedures.
The immunogen is purified native gp120 from strain IIIB.
Recommended storage up to 6 months at 2–8°C; for long-term storage, aliquot and freeze, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) entry into target cells is mediated by envelope (Env) glycoproteins, which exist as trimers of gp120/gp41 complexes on the virion surface.
The gp120 subunit initiates viral entry by sequentially binding to the CD4 receptor and co-receptor CCR5 or CXCR4, causing conformational changes that enable gp41 to mediate membrane fusion.
Cleavage of Env into gp120 and gp41 is essential for activation of fusogenic activity.
