Target Information

The PTPN11 gene encodes a protein belonging to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are signaling molecules that regulate various cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This PTP contains two tandem Src homology-2 (SH2) domains that mediate phospho-tyrosine binding and substrate interaction. It is widely expressed in most tissues and plays a regulatory role in multiple signaling pathways related to mitogenic activation, metabolic control, transcription regulation, and cell migration.
Mutations in PTPN11 are associated with Noonan syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
