Target Information
Mitochondrial ATP synthase consists of two multi-subunit complexes (F1 and F0) that utilize the inner membrane electrochemical gradient to synthesize ATP during oxidative phosphorylation.
MT-ATP8 (also known as ATP8, ATPASE8, or MTATP8) is a 68-amino acid single-pass membrane protein localized in mitochondria, functioning as a minor subunit of the F0 complex.
The MT-ATP8 gene is encoded on the mitochondrial chromosome and may be involved in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis.
