Target Information
Cysteine protease ATG4B는 ATG4B 유전자에 의해 암호화되는 효소입니다. 자가포식(autophagy)은 손상된 세포소기관과 단백질을 제거하는 중요한 세포 항상성 유지 과정입니다. ATG4B는 자가포식 핵심 기구에서 이중 역할을 수행하는 deubiquitin-like protease로, ATG8 계열 단백질(MAP1LC3, GABARAPL1, GABARAPL2, GABARAP)의 C-말단을 절단하여 글라이신을 노출시킵니다. 이 글라이신 노출은 ATG8 단백질이 phosphatidylethanolamine (PE)에 결합하여 막에 삽입되는 데 필수적이며, 자가포식 과정에 필요합니다. ATG4B는 주로 골격근, 뇌, 심장, 간, 췌장에서 발현됩니다.
